Author's Note(s): I owe an enormous debt of gratitude to slashmommy, my tireless beta, who must have read this time about a dozen times and made not only corrections but the kind of astute, intuitive comments that every fic writer dreams of getting. She is the Mistress of All Things. Bow to her. :-) |

Summary: “If I die in here?” Grissom asked, making sure his voice stayed steady.
“Well, that will depend on you,” the voice said. “I would be…most impressed if you managed to find your way out of here.” Things are not always what they seem, and finding out what you want may be the biggest riddle of all.

Chapter: One: Smoke and Mirrors
Summary: Abducted and held in a strange prison, Gil Grissom has to find a way to outsmart his mysterious captor. But he's running out of time, and the air itself is slowly turning to poison.
Warning(s): As far as warnings....much Gil!owwie ahead, but mostly a hurt/comfort fic. Keep in mind the thing about me and happy endings....;)
Author's Note(s): Okay, about the pairing. This is VERY Grissom-centric. The only characters for most of it are him and his abductor, so this story is mostly Gen, with a very lightly pre-slash ending. I wanted this piece to be a complete fic in and of itself, and trying to add slash after all the drama had played out just really doesn't work. So, I'm working on the companion piece which WILL be slashy. Don't want to give away the pairing, though. Muchos gracias, Mille Grazie, Vielen Dank, and many, many thanks to laurelgardner and faeryfroggy for being betas. |
Chapter: Two: Sleight of Hand
Summary: In the aftermath of "Smoke and Mirrors," all Gil wants is for life to return to normal. But that's not as simple as it sounds, and may not be what he really wants anyway.
Author's Note(s): I shall be forever grateful to faeryfroggy for being my beta and test-subject, to laurelgardner for helping me talk this out, and to yoru_no_tori for pointing out my typos and allowing me use of her name. Which, incidentally is prononced with an "a" like "Car," not an "a" like "Care." |
Chapter: Three: The Best Trick
Summary: In the aftermath of "Smoke and Mirrors," all Gil wants is for life to return to normal. But that's not as simple as it sounds, and may not be what he really wants anyway. |

Spoilers: 2x10 Ellie |
Author's Note(s): This plot bunnie had been pestering me for quite some time, but got much more vocal due to many conversations with Joanne who kindly beta read this for me. This is the first in what will be a series of stories if Joanne and the bunnies have anything to say about it.
